Kolby P. Marchand

biography

Kolby P. Marchand is an Associate in the Firm’s Baton Rouge office. Kolby was born and raised in Prairieville Louisiana and attended Louisiana State University. After graduating from LSU in 2015, Kolby went on to earn his Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center in 2018 where he graduated magna cum laude and was the Editor-in-Chief of the Southern University Law Review.

Kolby’s practice primarily focuses on the defense of individuals, businesses, and insurers in areas ranging from personal injury cases, including first- and third-party claims, premises liability cases, bad faith claims, and appellate litigation in State and Federal Court. Prior to joining the Firm, Kolby was a staff attorney for the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets in the 23rd Judicial District Court and then went on to practice with an insurance defense firm in Baton Rouge for over five years where he gained valuable litigation experience including motion practice, trial experience, and appellate experience.

Kolby is heavily involved with the local Baton Rouge Bar Association. He was elected by his peers to serve on the Baton Rouge Bar Association’s Young Lawyer’s Section. In 2024, Kolby was elected to serve as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Young Lawyer’s Section and has since been elected to Chairman of the Young Lawyer’s Section where he will serve a one-year term in 2025. Kolby was previously a finalist for the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel’s Frank L. Maraist Award, an award which recognizes young lawyers who have outstanding achievements in his practice and who has made significant contributions to the legal profession, the defense bar, and the community.

Outside of the office, Kolby enjoys spending time with his two children, golfing, riding motocross, and is on an endless pursuit to make the perfect gumbo.
