biography
Jim Nieset is a partner in the firm’s New Orleans office. He joined the firm in 1996. He represents insurance companies and their insureds in personal injury and premises liability cases. He represents and advises insurance companies on coverage issues and extra contractual cases. Since 2005, he has defended insurance carriers in hundreds of first party property cases arising out of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav, Laura, Delta, and Ida.
Jim has a wealth of trial experience before juries and judges throughout Louisiana in both state and federal court. In addition to his trial experience, he has mediated hundreds of cases. He has argued cases in the Louisiana First, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Circuit Courts of Appeal and at the Louisiana Supreme Court.
Jim is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He is a member of the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel (board member 2011), CLM (Southeast Louisiana Chapter, President 2015, Insurance Coverage and Technology Committees) DRI, Associate of Defense Trial Attorneys (LA State Chair, Internet and Technology Committee Chair (past)), New Orleans Associate of Defense Counsel (President 2008-2009), ABA, and New Orleans Bar Association. Jim and his wife live in New Orleans and have two children. He enjoys tennis, running, swimming, and playing guitar in his free time.
