biography

Doug Wimberly is Of-Counsel in the firm’s Thibodaux office. He has been a practicing civil litigation attorney for 34 years and was a founding member of the law firm of Cloyd, Wimberly and Villemarette. Doug has managed cases in both state and federal courts, with an emphasis on personal injury defense, insurance law, and local government law.

Doug is a lifelong resident of Church Point, Louisiana. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (USL) in 1979 and worked as a drilling engineer for Marathon Oil Company until 1986. He received his Juris Doctorate from the LSU Law Center in 1990, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board. He received his MBA from the University of Louisiana (UL) in 1991. Doug is admitted to all state and federal courts in Louisiana.

Doug is an avid fan of the Saints, Astros, LSU, and UL. Doug is an ordained Deacon in the Catholic Diocese of Lafayette and enjoys spending time with his four children and four grandsons on the “Cajun Prairie.”
