Emily Stickney Morrison was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and is a graduate of Benjamin Franklin Senior High School. (1977). She attended Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas where she earned a B.A. in History. (1981). Prior to entering law school, she was a legal assistant for three years in the maritime section of a large New Orleans law firm. She is a 1987 graduate of Loyola University of New Orleans where she was a member of the J. Braxton Craven Moot Court team and received the Dialogue in Law and Ethics award. While in law school she served as a summer law clerk to the late Former Chief Judge William V. Redmann of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal in New Orleans.
Following graduation from law school, Emily was a law clerk to Justice Harry T. Lemmon of the Louisiana Supreme Court from 1987-1989. She was also a law clerk in the 29th Judicial District Court for St. Charles Parish to Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon. From 1993 to 1998, she served as a Staff Attorney to the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board. Prior to working for the firm, she worked for seven years as an associate for a small firm in New Orleans engaged in the defense of state agencies and officials in federal and state court.
She is a member of the Junior League of New Orleans where she has been active in Teen Court of Greater New Orleans serving as its vice-chairman and co-chairman. She is an elder of St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church in New Orleans. She is a former member of the Parents Executive Board of De La Salle High School. She is a member of the Greater Covington Bar Association and is admitted to practice in Louisiana (1987), the Western District of Louisiana and the Eastern District of Louisiana. Emily and her husband Cam now reside in Mandeville, Louisiana and are the parents of two boys.
