CLAIBORNE W. BROWN E-mail: cbrown@phjlaw.com Claiborne W. Brown joined the Covington office as an associate in 2008. He specializes in insurance and civil defense and is experienced in admiralty and maritime law, construction and contract law, products liability and general personal injury law. Prior to joining the firm, he clerked for the Honorable Steven R. Plotkin with the Louisiana State Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. During that time, Mr. Brown was responsible for drafting bench memoranda as well as proposed opinions for Judge Plotkin. Following his judicial clerkship, Mr. Brown accepted employment with the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office, where he screened and evaluated numerous criminal cases ranging from drug possession to armed robbery. While working at the District Attorney’s office, Mr. Brown was selected to attend the winter 2004 class at the Marine Corps Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia. He graduated from OCS and was commissioned on March 26, 2004. Since that time, Mr. Brown has attended the Marine Corps basic officer course, known as “The Basic School” and the Basic Lawyer Course at Naval Justice School in Newport, Rhode Island. Following graduation from Naval Justice School, Mr. Brown was stationed at Marine Forces Reserve Headquarters in New Orleans, Louisiana in December 2004. While stationed at Marine Forces Reserves, Mr. Brown served as a trial counsel (prosecutor), and then as the senior defense counsel for Marine Forces Reserve. Mr. Brown attained the rank of Captain in the United States Marine Corps and has recently ended his active duty tour prior to joining the firm. Education Bar Admission Memberships and Affiliations
